Without knowing, Vanuatu Brewing Limited celebrates a special anniversary on the 23 of September 2019, marking 100,000,000 re-used bottles in 30 years of existence in this country.
Today Vanuatu Brewing Ltd is one of a few Companies in the Pacific Islands to have a Policy of re-using its bottles, thus contributing not only to the preservation of the Country’s environment but also to the economy. This re-usable policy has created a chain reaction, developing jobs in the community.
ENVIRONMENTAL FRIENDLY .
100,000,000 re-usable bottles meaning 100,000,000 less bottles littered in our environment. Taking pride in this achievement, especially, as the Company has no outside help in this regard.
The only Company in this field with a vision entailed by the shareholders willingness to purchase a new powerful Bottle Washer, is initiating the will to a more productive reusable progress. Despite incurring additional costs, this new washer will be in operations in 10 months.
93% ON EFATE, 74% ON SANTO & 90% ALL OVER VANUATU
Collection rates are 93% on Efate, 74% on Santo and 90% all over Vanuatu.
This ripple effect is slow but a positive addition to the country’s economy.
The state of pollution to the country’s environment deserves better consideration.
One wonders why all imported glass bottles are not subjected to the same requirement so that rules of competition are balanced, preserving the country’s environment.
In the meantime, here is a local industrial Company which can be proud of its achievements and will accelerate his sustainable development to makes our Islands even cleaner.
GIVING THE LOCALS SOME INCOME.
Bottles are bought from the locals giving them some income. The collectors then wash (see picture 1) and sell the used bottles to Vanuatu Brewing Ltd, where they are then passed through the washer ( see pictures 2 and 3). With this reusable process, 1 bottle can be used 5 to 6 times.
VBL also organizes collections directly from Restaurants, Hotels and catering outlets. Santo is slowly picking up, soon to have a new collector. VBL is also working on cost effective ways to collect from other islands in getting the bottles to base. Even though several solutions are in play, without help, it is an economic challenge for the Company.

OUR BOTTLE COLLECTORS.
5 bottle collectors visit the villages around Efate buying used bottles from the locals. The sound of bottles knocking against each other warning the local mamas that the collector has arrived to purchase used bottles.
Word is passed from village to village stating time and days when the collectors will be passing by each village to purchase bottles, prompting villages to wait on the side of the roads. Some customers would call the collectors for collection from their homes.
